A Mother God – v7

Metaphor of life
Father, Mother God
the Vine, like the womb,
the umbilical cord, life;
but more than this, eternal
never to be severed, never cut
the vine a part of us, lifelong
feeding us, giving us strength

Something we call feminine
a connection to God, eternal
to one another, a family of faith
living in, abiding in the vine
abiding in God, in the love of God
a Mother God, in the nature of the vine
helping us bear fruit, a harvest
a message for a hungry world

Some Word Deeper – v5

Some word deeper, poetry
written on my heart, alive;
not thoughts of my rational brain
an emotion deep inside

Colors, words, bubbling up
overflowing, pouring out;
gushing from deep within me
sparked by a feeling, passion

An urging, a calling, seeds
sharing them with the world;
casting seeds, stones in the seas
ripples, growth, on other shores

only the Lord your God – v2

worship God only
only the Lord your God
nothing of this earth
nothing in the heavens
only the living God

Creator over all
the One who came to earth
walking as a man

loving us enough
worthy of our praises
with us in our walk
to the end of the ages

not one – v2

not one of the people
no one worthy of love
all rebelling, fallen
walking away from God
not one single person
able to stand before God
all broken before the law
bound for the dust
needing the grace of God
to rise up again

The Lies They Fed Us – v7

Shame on us
for being so gullible
sheep of the world
believing their song
their sales pitch

Those in power
conjuring a dream,
nightmare, shackles,
the lies they fed us
finding nothing really there

The brass ring,
wealth, position
the corner office
an American dream
based on housing

We were never attaining
going, shouting, striving
seeking our real freedom
lies they fed us, tinny
ringing in our ears

Hope in the streets
true freedom from oppression
bound in the chains
prisons of their making
chasing a pipe dream

a sheep of this shepherd
a disciple of Christ
serving God only
in the way of the cross
so may we be
standing in the breach

preparing a path for us
