Following his footsteps
mindful, each one important
slowly going with our savior
all the days of this week
Hearing the crowds on Sunday
hosannas to the king
healing in Jerusalem
along the dusty streets
Watching him in the temple
clearing the house of God
the whispers in the corners of power
seeing the storm clouds rising
His hands in the water
washing the disciples’ feet
offering the new words at Passover
his body and his blood
Betrayal and denial
the false trial in the night
going before the righteous
convicted for accepting his name
Into the courtyard
standing before Rome
scourged and crucified
placed in the stone cold tomb
Walking slowly
only then to be ready
the joy of the morning
his resurrection
victory for the long dark night
