Governed by the snake

Thinking we are so evolved
able to reason, to think
but in panic, in fear
we are governed by the snake
Our breathing rapid
our heart rate brisk
unable to reason, unable to think
in the grip of the moment
Lost in our fear, primal
as so long ago
reverting to the primitive
survival, where to go
