Turning East for but a moment
a small detour on my workday travels;
Maybe stopping for five minutes,
to go, to linger, to savor,
feeling the pull of the sea.
Hearing the tides, the ocean,
walking towards the familiar dunes;
Touching wet sand, the water,
connecting to the ancient, the primordial,
a simpler time on this path, this earth.
A casting in the liquid earth,
as temporary as the tides
the moving waters, a breath;
Lingering but for a moment
gone before I turn ‘round.
