In the crucible
We find ourselves
who we truly are
every artifice and pretext
is stripped away...
 
Only in trial
do we see clearly
Only through the fire,
through the maelstrom,
is truth revealed...
 
There is so much pain and anguish
in the process, the burning...
But hope is only in striving,
in leaning forward,
Then peace will come...
