judging inward – v6

Judging inward only
our own selves,
To refine, to conform,
our walk in this life.

Love only, mercy,
for everyone else;
We are to judge inwardly
only ourselves.

Freed of this pain – v2

For the forgiver
the act of forgiving
forgiveness frees them of pain
the weight that they carry
burdening their life
freed of this pain
the weight they carried
giving the hurt to God
forgiving their neighbor
freeing themselves.

the lesson of forgiveness – v2

a daily struggle
in real-life living
not candy-coated
where the rubber hits the road

the lesson of forgiveness
real, life-changing,
in the words of Christ
in repeating parables

we must forgive without ceasing
agape love, as He had,
borne out, written,
in His words on the cross

if Christ could pray for us
dying to save us
the words indelible
written in His blood

“Father, forgive them,
forgive all of them,
they know not what they do”,
so true, for all of us, throughout time

the lesson of forgiveness
real, life-changing,
in words of scripture
in the life of Christ.

to love as you do

a wish, a promise
a hope eternal
a breath-prayer
a glowing candle
deep in my heart
to love as you do
to forgive without ceasing
my sisters, my brothers
those who would hurt me
now, to eternity.
this is the call, the challenge
to love as you do
giving all to God
a life of submission.

seventy times seven – 2 – v2

we must forgive our neighbor
seventy times seven
not an infinite number
but it might as well be
a challenge for most of us
to do what Christ said

we are to forgive
without ceasing
love over all
not seeking revenge
seventy times seven
a challenge to this hot head

these words spoken
to Peter, the Rock,
a challenge to each of us
so fully human
to truly love our neighbors
as Christ loves us.

their fear to singing

Almighty God’s answer
their fear to singing
praises to our God
our God victorious
We can trust God
as God’s children
why do we fear
God can do anything.

in going where God led them – v2

trusting God’s power
following the fire, the clouds,
in going where God led them
the sea was parted
the impossible came to pass
a way was made for them
by the hand of God
the miraculous occurred
the sea floor a path
dry ground below them
in going where God led them
His people were freed at last.

I give to God my hurt

I give to God my hurt
no longer holding onto my anger
forgiving all who have harmed me
leaving to God judgment,
consequence, all retribution.

I renounce violence
hidden within my heart
I leave that to God.

I praise God for His grace
I exalt God for His mercy
heaped on me abundantly.

I mourn for the judgment
on the others, and on myself,
who continue in their sin
I pray for their turning
that we would all walk closer to God.

In a way they couldn’t imagine

death stared at them
by water or the sword
but God saved them
according to His plan
when they trusted completely
God wrote a solution
In a way they couldn’t imagine
God saved His people.
