A quote, a quote

My brief for a quote;

Oh were it not so

That I perchance could find

The case on point, the nugget;

The precise notion

To set my pen to write.

To cast care to the winds

And blend a rule to my needs.

To see an argument

Master a rhyme

Meter and verse

Within the rubric

In my mind…

My brief for a quote

Oh were it but so

That I perchance could find

The case on point, the nugget,

The precise notion

the precedent, the compelling fact

To set my pen to write

Cast care to the winds

And blend a rule

build a line of reasoning,

overwhelming their thoughts

See an argument

Master a rhyme

Meter and verse

Within the rubric

the structure, the scheme,

In my mind…
