believe with your soul – v5

open up your spirit
beyond your normal awareness
don’t trust your eyes alone
see with your heart
a new vision
trust in the Lord
believe with your soul
be joyful in God
sure of God’s presence
believe with your soul
listening to the Spirit
walk in the way of Christ
pray to God above
see with your heart
to see paradise

A Life of Job – v2

In so many ways,
trying to be faithful
living a devoted life
grateful for God’s grace
singing God’s praise

Struggling as Job did
in our journey, our walk,
for answers we can understand
walking a life of Job
on this mortal coil

God’s time, and God’s purpose
within the journey, the steps,
the things we face in this life
seemingly random, spurious
pushing us to the max

Finding it difficult
even when faithful
to understand in our humanness
how things can be right
when things are so wrong

Answering the Clay

The potter spoke
out of the whirlwind
answering the claim
rebuking his claims
the demands he dared to speak

A reminder, the distance to God

His Comeuppance

In the chapters growing
wondering when it would happen
when his comeuppance
his response would come
Over and over questioning the creator
challenging God, not just asking
demanding an accounting
a justification from the one who made us
A mortal asking for a reason from the potter
stubborn clay, judging God
His answer in the whirlwind
the challenge of the maker
Where were you when I made all?
Who are you to question me;
and what right do you claim
calling me to task?

When Why Has No Answer – v4

Not in capriciousness
the randomness of fate
but when why has no answer
when pain, struggle come
how we all can truly relate

Wondering with Job
in our own walk of faith
how pain, struggle can be
when we try to walk righteously
repenting of our sin

Nothing we can comprehend
beyond our abilities
the forces in the world
leading some to suffer
and some to reap corrupt gain

The walk on this earth
far from the garden where we began
journeying in this wilderness
faith alone sustaining us
until we return to our heavenly home

Calling to My Spirit – v3

The bible, the words
meaning deep within
calling to my spirit to enter in
to stop my work and drink
to quench my thirst
to be filled

Finding a time, a place
to come to Your scripture
to drink of Your living word
to still myself and my world
to find a quiet center
to turn close to You

The Circle is Important – v6

an image of a fabric
of a scene of a tapestry
of a circle connected
suddenly shattered
pieces of what was whole
the shards sharp
their pain real
cutting into flesh
all who would touch them
but the circle is important
the extended family
healing the damage
the blood, the living flesh
yet the shards still there
encapsulated, remaining
under the scar tissue

you unbelieving generation – v2

thick with meaning, import
the indictment that hangs on us
the same as on the people before Him
the words of Jesus
We need to increase
what we believe
about Christ, about Jesus,
and who we are in Him

we must embrace
the belief that we speak of
to truly move beyond words
to act in the belief we claim
Help our unbelief
we pray this, Lord Jesus,
speak to us to steel our hearts
that we might believe more fully
