Walking down the sidewalk
on the way to pick up
Shanequa
our littlest after elementary
school
three in the afternoon, New
Hampshire,
bathed in early October.
Low light breaks between
the tenements, pushing,
striving,
through the late sunflowers
beams, shafts of brilliant
yellow
this warm afternoon aglow.
Warm light floods my senses
overwhelms my ability to see
it all;
but captured in the image
for us all to see once more,
a perfect moment frozen in
time.
