Like gloved hands
at a summer cotillion
so were the petals of the sunflower
touching her face.
Oh so delicately, so demurely,
brushing her face, as in a whisper,
pensive pose, thoughtful girl, watchful,
perhaps for an appropriate suitor.
Getting the vapors
at the sight of him.
