A well of remembrance

Each tragedy, each evil,
a signpost, a marker,
a talisman to hold onto,
to never let go…
 
Never forget, never forgive,
the enormity of their evil,
each life lost, each building destroyed,
every war crime committed…
 
Dipping into the well of memory,
each iconic image written,
seared into our consciousness,
the names of the victims…
 
Places a whetstone, a talisman,
worked by our fingers,
lives that were lost, tragically,
by the fount of their evil…
