In the garden, in anguish,
knowing all that would follow
blood-sweat falling
on sacred ground
the prayers of Jesus
to our Father God...
 
“My Father, if it is possible,
let this cup pass from me;
nevertheless, not as I will,
but as You will,” oh God...
 
Fear in His flesh
knowing the pain to come,
in the darkness of the garden
praying in submission –
our servant-savior –
giving His life to God...
 
Christ’s prayer of obedience,
overcoming His fear
fully man, fully God,
under God’s wrath
taking on sin’s mantle
giving His will to God...
