Diatomaceous earth

The pool needing cleaning, vacuuming,
scrubbing up the algae, the leaves, the needles,
making it less than pristine.

Scrubbing, cleaning, stirring up
clouds of chaos,
settling back to earth.

Diatomaceous earth
the backwash overflowing my feet
The yard alive with wriggling,
a bumper crop of earthworms,
gathered for the river, or left for the robins
watching in the trees.

the raptors, their carrion

raptors floating on the thermals
wings outstretched like fingers
looking for movement, motion,
To dive in for the kill.

more often the raptors, their carrion,
opportunists in, beside, the roadways,
but sometimes leaving a carcass,
A meal for another day.

The Enemy knows scripture - v2

We go into this war, this battle, naked,
our hands are blood-stained, empty;
We fight Satan with our wits, our wisdom,
only what we know in the flesh,
not with the Bible, God's word.

The Enemy knows scripture,
the word God has written,
what the Bible tells us;
God gives us the example of Jesus
who fought the Devil with that word.
