The Circle is what Matters – v5

Open wounds remaining
no return, no denying
a maw of pain exposed
the circle is what matters
coming together, urgent
healing the damage
yet shards still there
encapsulated, remaining
waiting under heavy scar tissue

The mirror cracked, broken
only pieces in the frame
pieces hanging, exposed
the circle, the family
unwound, unraveled
shards sharp, within
their pain real, remaining
cutting into flesh
all who would touch them

Walls of the circle breached
the dike of our sorrow
flowing out in pain, in blood
the cost of the schism
of the picking of sides
the divisions, the fissures,
unfair, the choices,
the circle is what matters
walling off the outside

falling into the waters – v3

falling into the waters
the act of baptism
our connection with Christ
commissioned for service
ordained for ministry
all of us touched by the Spirit
all beloved of God
all of us sent to heal
a balm for the brokenness
the separation from God
we are to share the one message
we are sent like Christ
up from the waters
into this broken world

The Mirror Shattered – v2

The mirror shattered
the circle, now broken
the fabric ripped asunder
the family in crisis
the frame may remain
but the shards are hanging

A fabric torn, ripped
a thread pulled from the middle
unraveling what was complete
an open wound removing
part of the picture

The mirror shattered
the circle now broken
the frame may remain
the family in crisis
the frame may remain
but the shards are hanging

The Circle is Important – v5

The mirror cracked, broken
pieces hanging, exposed
the circle unwound
shards sharp
their pain real
cutting into flesh
all who would touch them
a piece of the flesh torn out

Open wounds remaining
a maw of pain exposed
continuing, unended,
the circle is important
healing the damage
yet shards still there
encapsulated, remaining
waiting under heavy scar tissue

The Circle is what Matters – v4

The family, the circle
the body together,
lines of heredity, or kinship
tremors on the web, the arc
the circle shattered, cut,
The beauty in a way broken
a piece removed, ripped
torn from the fabric
jagged, in pain and in loss

Open wounds remaining
a maw of pain exposed
perhaps covered over for a time
yet the circle is what matters
coming together, urgent
to heal the damage, the rift,
Yet shards still there
encapsulated, remaining
waiting under heavy scar tissue

The whole, the mirror cracked,
tremors remaining, open,
broken, pieces hanging, exposed
the circle, the family
unwound, unraveled
shards sharp, within, retained
Their pain real, remaining
cutting into flesh, through skin
all who would touch them

Walls of the circle breached
the dike of our sorrow
levees needed, to be shored up,
flowing out in pain, in blood
the cost of the schism
of the picking of sides
unfair, the choices,
The circle is what matters
walling off the external

a breach in the circle – v2

a tear in the fabric
an acute problem
a breach in the circle
injury within the family
one against another
brothers and sisters
parents and grandparents
enabling the escalation
fanning the flames
the division, the strife
the wound growing larger

needing oil for the waters
a balm to heal them
praying over the circle
that the breach would be healed
that others would mend the tear
that they may see
the error of their choices
the pain they inflict
the tear in the circle
that they would come together
that they be restored
