the holy communion
remembering his offering
the other cup, on that hill
In the prayer Christ cried
asking the forgiveness of God
the taste of the awful cup
the bitterness in his mouth
Our sins passed to our Master
our hands upon the Lamb
sacrificed for us, a fragrant offering
to heal the breach of man
Interceding for us, stepping in
our Advocate, the High Priest
already the sacrifice,
rising from defeat, to pray
Crying out for God’s mercy
his forgiveness on each human soul
his words and sacrifice in union
to save our mortal souls
