red sunset turning to mauve, to plum

Sky a canvas, the dome,

catching a glimpse only

running out to meet it

red sunset turning to mauve, to plum,

color growing ever deeper.

 

Fading of the light, its dying,

longing to remember, to capture,

the sun’s last brightness

the quickening of the night

color growing ever deeper.
