Dinosaur Spines

Dinosaur spines
rising from the earth
branches cut from the palms
prehistoric vertebrae
living fossils, jagged,
exposed to salt air.
 
Dinosaur spines
exoskeletons, rising,
wings of earth-bound angels
the trunks, showing,
the hand of man, cutting,
changing their living flesh.
 
Dinosaur spines
vertebrae of the palms
rising from the earth
some fresh, some aged,
harkening to dry bones, fossils,
dug from the cold earth.
