Wings of the earth-bound angels

Wings of the earth-bound angels
the palm fronds, their branches,
rising up into the sun, falling
by the sides of their bodies.
 
Wings of the earth-bound angels
touched by the hands of man
cut from the trunks, cast off,
released from captivity.
 
Wings of the earth-bound angels
the palm fronds, their branches,
rising up into the sun, falling
by the sides of their bodies.
 
Wings of the earth-bound angels
not static, growing, dying,
held for a moment of time
released from captivity.
