Wings of earth-bound angels

Wings of earth-bound angels
palm fronds, their branches,
rising up into the sun, falling
by the sides of their sleek bodies.
 
Wings of earth-bound angels
touched by the hands of man
cut from the trunks, cast off,
released from their captivity.
 
Wings of earth-bound angels
palm fronds, their branches,
rising up into the sun, falling
by the sides of their sleek bodies.
 
Wings of earth-bound angels
not static, growing, dying,
held for a moment of time
released from their captivity.
