vessels for their bodies

Elongated spirits, captured,

the trunks, the branches,

vessels for their bodies

earth-bound angels among us

standing on guard, on watch.

 

Rising from the earth,

their wings revealed, in secret,

watching over our daily lives

held within their branches,

their bodies hidden, within.
