We turn our eyes from their #evil – v2 #Putin #Russia #warcrimes

So many atrocities, so much pain,
too many to number, to fathom,
their pain, this story, this truth,
again and again, too much…
 
We turn our eyes from their evil,
not wanting to become involved,
feeling we are impotent, unable,
to help, to do anything in this time…
 
We are too easily distracted, unfocused,
too easy to turn away, to be passive,
to switch the channel, to scroll away,
putting our heads in the sand...
 
We must cry out, “Enough!”
This madness must end,
crying for the people,
“Russia cannot win!”

So many atrocities, so much pain,
too many to number, to fathom,
again and again, too much…
 
We are Too easily distracted, we turn away,
we switch the channel, we scroll away,
putting our heads in the sand...
 
We turn our eyes from their evil,
we feel impotent, powerless, unable,
to help, to do anything in this time…
 
We must cry out, “Enough!”
“This madness must end!”
We cry with the People,
“Russia cannot win!”

a nation at the flashpoint – v3

a nation at the flashpoint

in sectarian factions

by gender, by party, by race,

rage and anxiety, hate and fear

caught in the maelstrom

in the chaos of this moment;

we need peace, calm within us

in the swirling transition

needing the light of Jesus

within the quickening storm

a nation at the flashpoint

the furnace of scripture

the winnowing of the harrow

the crucible of this moment

testing faith here below

in these trying times, these days;

we need to cleave to God’s promise

to our calling, our commission

to ignore the storms around us

to remain focused on our goals

in the storm, in the chaos – v3

in the storm, in the chaos

in the maddening wind around us

swirling, pushing, tapping into

the spirit of the flesh, of the earth

the wind of division, of Satan,

seeking to break our attention

our focus on the Lord, our Savior

wanting us to sink, to drown us

in the maelstrom building

in the winds of turmoil, of struggle

on the temporal plane, these times

when anger and fear control us

seeking to draw us under, drowning

deep beneath these waves

in the 24-hour news cycle

in the flash of this time

it is so easy to be caught up

in the heat of this moment

to be gathered in by the fear

by the anger that drives them;

we are pulled astray, asunder,

from the path God laid before us;

we must focus on Jesus Christ

on Christ’s Great Commission,

on our calling from our risen Savior;

we must be working, awake, ablaze,

when He returns to judge the nations,

when He gathers His people home
