an embalming oil – v3

the gift the wise men offered
the Magi from the East
oil to anoint Him
an embalming oil
for the body of Christ
to prepare Him for the journey

a symbol of death
along with the riches
given to Jesus, to the Christ,
the baby before them
a gift for the child
who is our King.

We are the branches – 3 – v9

We are arms of God’s love
we are the branches
Christ is the trunk
Jesus is the vine
we are the branches
growing to share God’s love
we are the branches
bearing fruits to share Christ
Christ’s message
the holy gift of love

hollow words – v2

We hear the hollow words of the righteous
not praying with their hearts;
Empty words without meaning
are chaff in the fields of God.

Nothing of God, of the Spirit,
mouthing words from our minds;
Groans are enough, sighs only,
so long as they come
from deep within our hearts.

at the simplest pray – v2

What do we say, how should we stand
must we kneel or are we to hold our hands up;
Where should we be, out in creation
or in our prayer closet, alone,
spending time alone with God?

“Yes” maybe the best answer to the question,
“How do we pray?”
in the walk of our lives;
We should pray
as the Spirit leads.

Every word raised up
to the heart of God;
No magic formula
no perfect words only
but a model of prayer.

In these words of Jesus, a prayer,
each word pointing
to God’s presence with us;
Providing every word, each moment,
in our walk of life.
