There are forks in the road - v2

Our lives are not a straight path

smooth sailing, untrammeled,

without troubles, problems,

every day of our lives;

there are forks in the road

there are detours, road closures;

we wander in the wilderness,

in our own times of desert,

we become lost in our spirits,

prodigals, separated from God.

We wander, we are prodigals,

lost sons and daughters

far from our home;

we struggle, we journey

we wander, we sojourn,

on the road, out in the world.

There are forks in the road

places of decision, of choices,

there are detours, road closures

sometimes we run into walls, dead ends;

but Christ made a way for us

a path through the desert, a way

for us to turn from our wandering;

Christ made a doorway, a gate,

a way for us to come home

to the Father, to our loving God.
