This Holy Week

This Holy Week

Starting with Palm Sunday

the cleansing of the Temple

the Upper Room, the Passover,

healing and teaching,

the King in Jerusalem.

Continuing toward the Passion

the final meal and betrayal

submission at Gethsemane

the running of the disciples

alone in trial, in pain.

Whipped and stripped

bleeding and naked

our King, the Messiah,

carrying our cross

bearing our sin, our shame.

Dying a criminal

mocked by the people

the Son of God giving

His life for the wicked

a sacrifice of love.
