Not yet green

Not yet green

the woodlands, the pasture

the vista before me

changing with the seasons

but in-between still

rising up to the mountain

still covered in white

the snow melting

exposing the fields, the forest

not yet green, vibrant,

still held in the brown of fall, winter

soon to burst forth

in spring’s bright song
