Fearing What-if

Dreading the unknown
fearing what-if
a drumbeat of fear
destroying all else…
 
A slave to fear, frozen,
not taking a step
in the comfort of my pain
the familiar my rest…
 
Wanting to be free
but stuck in my chains
only hearing the “what-ifs”
not the “what can be’s”…
