Jesus could have cursed them

in pain, in human agony
dying on our cross
to set us free…
 
Jesus could have cursed them
soldiers driving the nails
spikes that held Him
on the rugged cross…
 
radical forgiveness, a prayer,
Christ’s petition to God,
“Father, forgive them,
for they know not what they do”…
 
in pain, dying,
Christ forgave them…
He forgave all of us…
