a spiritual battle

every moment is a choice
a spiritual battle within us
the flesh, our sin, our desires,
anything that becomes an idol,
taking the place of God…

a spiritual battle of honesty,
staring in our own mirror,
taking account of our sin,
every choice, every action,
that separates us from God

being transparent, open,
our sin and its legacy, facing
the consequence of our choices,
when we listen to the Devil,
when we give in to the flesh…

a dying to self, to our sin,
weeping bitterly, repenting,
turning back to God…
humbly accepting unmerited grace,
seeking to follow Christ…
