love, a new commandment,
not just superficially, casually,
more than loving, “your neighbor as yourself",
No, Jesus doesn’t stop there,
ancient words of scripture…
He calls us to go further,
if we are to be His disciples…

God who entered time,
who became clay, mortal, flesh,
who sacrificed for each of us,
God, who suffered and died
to give us each new life…
Christ calls us to go further,
To love “as I have loved you”…

Christ cuts right through us
He gives us no easy escape,
with these words, this commandment…
We must love, we must serve,
We must sacrifice for one another…
We must love as Jesus loves us,
God who died to set us free…
