we are fools
when we listen
to our own propaganda
when we preen before the mirror
believing we are wise...

what cost there is
to repeating this folly
to go into battle
for battle’s sake
to prove we are right...

what joy there is
in being silent
when we listen
to wise counsel
when we admit
we are wrong...
