unlocking the church
standing In the entry
way
looking across the street
a father and son
getting ready for the hunt
A father with a hat
of blaze orange
denims and plaid shirt
standing on the bumper
loading the Chevy truck
I wish I had a camera
to capture that moment
his son holding a bag
little hand raising
the drink for him
“Here you go, Dad”,
I could hear the gesture
offering him morning
love poured out
in his little hand raised
offering him morning
something important
before the deer hunt
