Walk in the park

Beside the pond

Sturdy trunk

Branches hacked

By rough pruning

Yellow lichen, moss

Speckled skin

Gnarled and beaten

Knowing sentry

Countless tales

Close my eyes,

Touch the bark

Flash of granite

Solid and rough

Gravitas, the rock tree
