Within the womb of the lilac

Within the womb of the lilac

a kernel of creation

all the blooms will ever be

is waiting, alive, nascent.

All compressed, hidden,

molded in secret, darkness

all is created, designed, perfect

by the hand of the Master.

From their beginning, perfection

from conception, completion,

there is completeness within each kernel,

hidden from view, waiting for its time.

All of the flowers’ lives, each flower,

the leaves, the branches, the bunches,

are already present, emerging, nascent,

in the bud before their blooming.

All the complexity of life is

in the womb of the bud, ready,

the DNA, the code, unfurling,

in the completeness of each flower.

All these are captured in miniature

in the kernel, the infinitesimal,

already present, emerging, nascent,

in the bud before their blooming.
