because we don’t always love ourselves
The golden rule is insufficient, inadequate,
to love our neighbors as ourselves;
We must love as Christ loved us,
as Christ loves us still,
because we don’t always love ourselves
holding onto our judgement, our pain,
our sins of the past, the present;
We must love as Christ loved us,
as Christ loves us yet.
