Behind the broken barbed wire - v2

Stone wall neglected, crowding,
a tree at the rear of the property rising,
behind rusted-broken barbed wire,
wedged between the stones and life,
the tree, a maple growing taller, higher,
framed before a summer sky…
 
Expanse of the field-yard before us,
their old house on the horizon,
a fort in the tree above, climbing,
a loose board spelling disaster,
a scar to remind me of gravity,
hiss-sting of the barbed wire…
