What have you done – 2

not just words of scripture,
spoken by God to Cain,
words of accusation, power,
when he took life in his hands…
 
“what have you done”,
words that echo, that sting,
when we think of the hurt we cause,
against God, against man…
 
we too are selfish, jealous,
like Cain we sin, we stray,
we get angry with one another,
we walk, we run away…
 
God could condemn us,
each one of us born on earth,
but God made a way to redeem us,
to give us eternal life…
