In ashes, in sackcloth

I am laid low,
in ashes, in sackcloth,
I am in despair, aching,
I need Your love, oh God
preserve my life, Father,
according to Your word…
 
Come close to me, Lord,
for I am hurting, I am broken,
I long to feel You with me,
beside me as close as breath,
that I would sense Your presence,
that You would answer my prayer…

The Psalm speak of midnight, which is the start of the "12 to 3 AM prayer watch," or the "Third Watch," is a time of prayer and spiritual focus, often associated with spiritual warfare and seeking divine intervention.  It is a time of heightened spiritual activity, where believers are encouraged to pray against darkness and evil forces.
