We hide from reality
our own complicity,
our unwillingness to act
running over history,
the objective truth  –
the cause of this aggression –
Claiming neutrality in genocide
when that is not an option...
Facts do not allow that deception
over their lies, their propaganda,
The blood in the streets...
 
Clarity has been obscured,
moral authority diminished,
within the fog of dependence
of compromise, half-measures,
requiring too much courage
because of a silenced truth...
Complacency, self-interest
melts into complicity,
in the face of terror -
A curse of our sin,
our failure to act...
 
We claim to support them
to do what is just, to remember,
while we watch their anguish...
We proclaim we stand with them
but we stand on the back foot -
timid, complacent, complicit -
going no further than self-interest,
not doing what is right...
When they stand resolute...
When they have no choice...
When we must help...
