Tears of the Master

My eyes pouring out
in shock, in disbelief
the same tears as my Master
bitter seeds of anguish
running down my face
I have cursed my Savior
when the time of trial came
I denied his name

Standing hunched in the courts
the temple before me
the Sanhedrin, the leaders
calling his words blasphemy
I who knew Christ so well
who had called him by name
I who believed he was the Christ
yet I denied his name

My tears streaming down
bitter shards of glass
as the cock crowed thrice
the echo of my words
I looked in the crying eyes of Jesus
as he was held in Satan’s grip
yet I did not run to my Master
instead I denied his name
