The cold wet granite
smooth over the ages
wrapped in warmth,
a blanket of moss.
Draped by the hands,
loving hands of the creator
caring for something
as simple as rock.
Our day of communion
out into the forest, sensing
the presence of God
by our sides.
Out in the forest
away from the hectic,
busyness of daily life,
beauty in the stillness.
A glimpse of God’s providing
even for the bit of the earth
warmed by the blanket,
shimmering in the weak light.
