Extending 1938

Holding terror at bay,
Within strict constructs,
a pause in the advance,
genocide still on the march
repeating this observation,
because it needs to be,
we are given the gift, time,
they are extending 1938,
but at such an awful cost...
 
A war of great powers,
standing on the margin,
waiting to see the costs,
where the wind blows,
the number of kilometers,
the cost in human lives,
destruction, terror rampant,
seeing caution, war fatigue,
despairing toward 1939…
