Keeping our demons at bay

He knows all too well
that primal adrenaline rush,
darkness, our carnal nature,
that yearns to steal our bodies,
that speaks in nights of chaos,
poison, our hearts racing in flight…
 
Keeping our demons at bay
holding onto Christ Jesus,
calling Him in the darkness,
for the Spirit to rise within us
to push the demons out
to have peace in our bodies…
 
An ancient struggle repeating,
our higher brain ascendent,
reason battling the forces,
deep within, the terror,
the demons, the beast waiting,
to catch us in our weakness…
 
Keeping our demons at bay,
in the power of Christ Jesus,
cleaving to our Savior,
the Lamb on His throne,
He knows all too well the names,
of each and every demon…
