softening scar tissue #poetry #God #confess #repent #forgive

in the process of healing
repeating the process, deeper,
opening the wounds once more
softening scar tissue,
the thickness in my spirit
the weight of the mass,
like pearls around grains of sand,
cut open to expose
the deep hurt within…
 
pulling the grit
the tiny wound long buried
under the weight of the scar tissue
the avoidance, the denial,
of its power upon me
the thickness of my movement
the fetters I carried,
wanting to be healed, to be free
for the very first time…
