capturing a moment,
a poem’s title birthing,
teased from the ether,
From my memory.
alive in this moment,
captured, remembering,
a touchstone, an image,
burned in my mind.
robin’s egg and salmon skin,
moments, seconds really,
flickering before me,
of yesterday’s sunset.
frozen in my spirit,
captured forever,
in my memory, my flesh,
to recall in later years.
no disposable or Instamatic.
not on emulsion, on film;
Images captured on
rods and cones this time.
memory planted securely,
absorbed within, deeply,
enduring, connecting,
synapses growing strong.
muted edges, eye-shadow,
wispy gossamer clouds.
bands of color and mood
share the sky above.
small birds dancing,
flitting in the sparkles,
And a damselfly,
before the dark.
etch shape of the dome,
The arc of eternity,
above the dark landscape,
after the light fails.
sunset now remembered,
part of my memory,
my experience, my life,
To cherish forevermore, always.
