three years crying into the void

three years crying into the void,
seeking to help this people,
too many leaders failing to lead,
to rise to meet this challenge…
 
evil given sway, power,
impunity through our indifference,
believing the threats of the bully,
keeping our arsenals in check…
 
making of them servants, proxies,
in a war we would not fight,
fighting our one common enemy,
but paying an awful price…
 
it is late, but we can choose better,
standing now with this people,
standing for right against injustice,
to stop the evil of genocide…
