The Stones we carry

The weight of our lives
of our past, our sin
ever with us,
present in time
even though God forgives
the ripples, the echoes
the choices we made
consequences still
the stones we carry
the weight of our past
echoes on
in things that last

the stones of this life

carrying the stones of this life
the sins of the garden and
the sins of our days

weighing us each down
from our birth until we die
lifted only by the grace of God

needing the Christ
his love come down
walking on this earth

turning to our savior
our brother, our king
saving us from the cross, the grave,
the tomb, the skies
such was his offering

A Weight Inside

My sin, my history
bottled up within me
a cancer growing
eating at my soul

A weight inside
I carried with me
long time coming
to set myself free

Confessing my sin
offered to my savior
humbly coming
before almighty God

The burden lifted
the pain I carried
my sins forgiven
because I believe
