Reaching for my phone this morning – v2

Reaching for my phone this morning,
a part of my life shattered, broke,
for in trying to turn off my alarm,
I shattered my favorite coffee mug…
 
A little tragedy you may suggest,
just a coffee cup, of no consequence,
that is most definitely true, and yet,
how many cups of coffee have I sipped
from that cup I bought in 1983…
 
So many days, so many years ago,
a Java Junkie, it is true, black coffee black,
the same color staining the pottery,
Tom, I sincerely thank you…
