too scared, too ashamed

too often we struggle, we hide,
from the truth, our demons,
our secret sins, our trials,
the stones that we carry,
too heavy, by far…
 
too scared, too ashamed,
to share, to be brutally honest
but healing comes from confronting,
that which we have hidden,
from others, from ourselves…
 
too much to carry, a burden,
on our souls, on our spirits,
weights, fetters, chains,
of our present, our past,
whispered in the night…
 
too scared, too ashamed,
but in truth is our freedom,
confronting the things
we have hidden, denied,
before others, ourselves…
