A lifetime of struggle,
Autonomy, identity,
Intrinsic worth, value,
Rich gifts from God…
 
Constantly angry,
Insecure, attacked,
Unmoored from identity,
The love of God…
 
Bitterly lashing out,
Demanding submission,
Wanting approval, protection,
From my Father, God…
 
Anger defining, clouding,
All of my feelings, my actions,
Become a tyrant, a bully,
Under legalistic words…
 
A mirror too precise,
Crumbling self-image,
Remorse demanding,
A deep change within…
 
Asking for prayer,
His hands upon me,
Unsure of this journey,
But needing healing within…
