We must forgive
for us to have freedom
chains on our souls
as was true of Peter…
 
I can feel the tension
his conversations with Jesus
Christ’s command to forgive
until we truly forgive…
 
Peter was a hothead,
I know the feeling,
slights, sins against him
tore him apart…
 
Mercurial Peter
asking a question of Jesus;
but Christ’s answer to him
must have grieved his heart…
 
We all must breathe
these words of Jesus
forgiving those who hurt us
until we truly forgive…
 
Vengeance is not ours
We are so far from Righteous
We must turn them over
to Almighty God…
